Burster Tube Facing Machine
This custom-designed machine for the U.S. Army allowed a single operator to load pre-cast Burster Tubes on the indexing input conveyor and unload completed Burster Tubes on the adjacent indexing output conveyor. At the mid-point of the process, a cavity was precisely machined into one end of the pre-cast tube without touching the I.D. of the steel tube. The tube was transferred laterally to the output conveyor where a cavity was precisely machined into the opposite end of the tube. The completed tube was then transferred to the output indexing conveyor and eventually unloaded and packed into boxes for shipping to the final assembly operation.
