Woonsocket Dam project in Rhode Island
IPS worked with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers to replace the existing, and original, Tainter Gate level indication system with a modern electronic system allowing the flood gate operators to open single gates manually while physically standing at the gates themselves.
The Woonsocket Dam is 268 feet in length, has 4 gates and was completed in 1960 for flood control of the Blackstone River in Woonsocket Rhode Island. The dam has a Tainter Style Gates and was in desperate need to have the gate height indication system upgraded.
