Lab Scale Wastewater Treatment System
This is a prototype system custom-designed for the U.S. Army to provide a lab scale pilot plant to test the results of different filter media on eliminating contaminants from the wastewater generated during the processing and loading of explosive powders. The system allows them to test a single filter media or up to nine different filter media in a variety of scenarios. For example, they can test 1, 2 or 3 filter media in chamber A, or 1, 2 or 3 in chamber B, or 1, 2 or 3 in Chamber C. In addition, the can test chambers A and B, chambers A and C, chambers B and C or chambers A, B and C. The system allows them to meter in small doses of chemicals as desired. The tanks, piping and other components subjected to the contaminated water are constructed of stainless steel. The frame is designed with a secondary containment catch pan in the event of a leak or spillage of the contaminated water. The data generated by this system will be used for larger scale production systems.
